Why wdgt.pro exists
Designing good widgets is harder than it looks.
They’re small, constrained, and meant to communicate useful information at a glance — often without any interaction at all. Yet when designers look for widget inspiration, most of what they find is either:
- conceptual UI that never shipped
- isolated screenshots with no context
- trend-driven visuals without real-world constraints
wdgt.pro exists to solve that problem.
A reference, not a feed
wdgt.pro is a curated archive of real, production mobile app widgets from iOS and Android.
Every widget you see here:
- comes from an actual app
- shipped to real users
- was designed under real constraints
This is not a gallery for concepts or experiments. It’s a reference library for studying how widgets are actually designed and used.
Why widgets deserve their own archive
Widgets sit at a unique intersection of:
- information design
- system constraints
- behavior at a glance
They’re affected by:
- platform guidelines
- device sizes
- OS capabilities
- user habits
Looking at them without context misses the point.
wdgt.pro organizes widgets by platform, size, category, and year. So you can compare patterns, study evolution, and understand why certain designs exist — not just how they look.
Learning from evolution, not just trends
Design doesn’t happen in isolation or in a single moment. By showing widgets across years, wdgt.pro helps answer questions like:
- How have weather widgets evolved over time?
- What patterns stayed consistent across OS versions?
- Which ideas disappeared — and which ones endured?
This historical view is intentional. Good design decisions become clearer when you see them over time.
Who this is for
wdgt.pro is built primarily for product designers, mobile UI/UX designers, design students, and developers working on mobile apps.
If you care about real-world design patterns, production constraints, and clarity over novelty, you’re the intended audience.
What wdgt.pro is not
To be explicit, wdgt.pro is not a social feed, a marketplace, a submission free-for-all, or a trend-chasing inspiration board.
Curation, accuracy, and structure matter more than volume.
A work in progress
wdgt.pro is growing gradually. The archive will expand over time, but quality and correctness come first. Some years, categories, or platforms may be incomplete — intentionally so.
The goal is not to be exhaustive overnight, but to become dependable over time.
In short: wdgt.pro exists to make it easier to study how widgets are actually designed, in the real world, across platforms and years.
If it helps you make better design decisions — even small ones — it’s doing its job.
